Polaris is celebrating its 60th birthday by introducing their 2015 line of sleds. Maintaining the company's culture of innovation, Polaris Industries Inc. vice president, Mike Jonikas said, "We are committed to delighting riders with world class quality and industry leading comfort."
From advances in chassis and engine design, to new options across the sled, Jonikas says the 2015 Polaris snowmobiles are designed to redefine the rider's experience and further deliver on Polaris' promise to provide riders with terrain dominating control."
Polaris AXYS chassis is a new kind platform for new level of performance
Featured in nine of the new models in the RUSH and SWITCHBACK family of sleds, the new AXYS chassis is constructed with 93% new parts and a host of new structure and design concepts, all aimed at giving rider-balanced control and rider-centric comfort.
According to Polaris, rider balanced control gives the rider flatter cornering without sacrificing the fun factor, more precise handling in all conditions, better control in big bumps and chatter bumps, and the ability to move back on the sled to make the front end lighter for easier climbing up on top of snow or moguls.
The new design moves the rider's hands forward 4.5", knees forward 4.5", feet forward 2", and the seat forward 4.5", to create a neutral position in the center of the sled's balance point.
The AXYS also utilizes the newly introduced PRO-XC progressive rate rear suspension system that includes a redesigned crank and pivot and a rearward positioned front torque arm to increase travel and improve rail profile. The PRO-XC suspension also provides what Polaris refers to as Active Pitch Control which controls pitch through suspension geometry rather than traditional high spring rate.
AXYS sleds will be powered by Polaris' all new 800cc H.O. engine. The next generation of the Cleanfire two-stroke twin, the new design is lighter, more powerful, more quiet, and more economical than the original. Quicker revs result from the 2.5-pound lighter crankshaft that was originally introduced in the 2014 600 IQ racing sled.
AXYS riders will enjoy the new "comfort" features including integrated storage, enhanced wind protection, redesigned seat, longer and wider running boards, and LED headlights.
Models that include AXYS include: 600 RUSH PRO-S, 800 RUSH PRO-S, 800 RUSH PRO-X, 800 Switchback PRO-S, 600 Switchback PRO-S, 600 Switchback Adventure, 800 Switchback PRO-X.
RMK and SWITCHBACK ASSAULT dominate deep snow
Polaris' tradition of trail domination continues with the PRO-RMK. The lightest sled in its class, the 417-pound PRO-RMK is the most "flickable" sled available. While the Switchback ASSAULT sleds provide versatility for trail and backcountry riders alike.
Designed for deep snow riding, the PRO-RIDE chassis with carbon fiber overstructure gives these sleds strength, rigidity, and response that Polaris says helps make you a better rider.
Coil-over rear suspension and Gripper skis give RMK superior deep snow performance and increased flotation for improved climbing. The ASSAULT sleds utilize tipped-up rails and rail reinforcements for trail riding performance, and a 144" Cobra track to improve flotation off the trail. The ASSAULT's hybrid running boards combine trail-ready foot stirrups with extra width to allow for seated or stand-up riding.
2015 INDY line provides enhanced off-trail versatility
The new 155 INDY Voyager and Adventure sleds feature a new high-flotation Cobra 155-inch track, articulated rear suspension, and 9.5-inch Pro-Float skis. The result is outstanding trail handling and superior deep snow flotation.
Lightweight yet well balanced, INDY Voyager models are true recreational utility machines, providing easy handling in a variety of terrain and snow depth conditions, with one or two riders, with cargo onboard or in tow. Adventure models feature a convertible seat that allows easy switching form one-up to two-up configurations, an exclusive cargo system with rear aluminum rack and lock-and-ride saddle bags, along with hood-mounted mirrors, passenger footrests, and the PRO-RIDE Extreme Front Bumper.
Boasting a sled for every rider, Polaris' INDY line includes two additional versatile long-track models: the 550 INDY LXT 144, a comfortable touring model, and the 550 INDY 144, and the performance line-up including the 800 INDY SP, 600 INDY SP, 600 INDY, 550 INDY, and Youth 120 INDY.
