2014 Kawasaki Teryx LE – A Redesigned UTV with More “Sport”

2014 Kawasaki Teryx puts more sport into the two-seater sport/utility vehicle. Redesigned for 2014, the Kawasaki Teryx provides a unique combination of elements that appeal to recreational, sporting, and utility riders alike. And while the new Teryx looks a bit like its older brothers, upgrades in space, comfort, power, and performance quickly separate the 2014 Teryx from everything else in its class.

New Teryx V-twin engine delivers more power and performance than ever

The new Teryx is powered by a modified version of the time honored Kawasaki 750 cc 90-degree V-twin engine. Billed as an 800 cc machine, the upgraded Teryx engine is technically 783 cc, up from the previous model's 749 cc. This seemingly minor increase actually provides an impressive 26% increase in horsepower and 12% increase in torque. Optimized camshafts and revised exhaust headers deliver consistent power whether riding alone, carrying a rider, or hauling a load.

Standard electronic fuel injection provides effortless engine starting and quick throttle response. The new Teryx has a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with a centrifugal clutch assembly that provides smooth clutch engagement and instant acceleration. The centrifugal clutch also contributes to optimum transmission performance and extends drive belt life and reliability.

The Teryx features high and low forward gears, neutral, and reverse, in 2WD, 4WD, and 4WD-with-front-differential-lock modes. Riders can adjust gearing and traction to match the terrain easily and instantly with the turn of a dashboard-mounted switch.

2014 Kawasaki Teryx lets riders attack the trails with comfort and confidence

Kawasaki teamed-up with the top name in high-performance shocks, FOX, to develop a new kind of shock especially for the Teryx. The FOX Podium shocks are piggyback reservoir coil-over shocks that feature adjustable spring preload and 24-way compression dampening that allow riders to match the vehicle's suspension to the terrain or task at hand. Mounted at all four corners of the vehicle, the Podium shocks provide unparalleled suspension with 8.0-inches of travel at the front and 8.3-inches at the back. From gentle cruises to rugged trail rides, the Podiums' fade-free dampening maximizes comfort on any terrain.

Despite the 85.8-inch wheelbase (same as the Teryx4), the new Teryx's 16.7-foot turning radius provides great maneuverability especially when space is limited. And when corners get tight, a burly set of 26-inch Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires help maintain traction and control while the wide-track design help reduces the chance of rollover. Steering is precise and easy thanks to the Teryx's Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. Designed by Showa and calibrated for low-effort wheel control, this specialized system uses vehicle speed and torque sensors to provide increased assistance at low speeds and less as pace quickens. The Teryx's EPS provides additional dampening on straights, reduces steering kickback and bump steer, and eliminates power-steering pump that can reduce engine power.

With so many advances in what makes the Teryx go, Kawasaki has added high-performance hydraulic brake systems to make the Teryx stop. Front wheels are equipped with dual-piston calipers gripping 200mm rotors, recessed into the wheels to prevent damage from dirt, debris, rocks, and water. Completely isolated from the elements, Kawasaki's uniquely sealed internal wet brake system delivers consistent braking power coming down a hill or blazing down a straightaway, in wet or dry conditions.

2014 Teryx – the side-by-side for the trail, on the hunt, or on the job

2014 Kawasaki Teryx

The Teryx offers an array of additional features for a variety of riding needs. Water-resistant storage containers offer a class-leading 182 liters of capacity. The rear storage box provides a generous 28-inch by 43-inch dumping cargo bed with a 600-pound payload capacity as well as the new tool snap-mount system for adding Kawasaki accessories. And a 2-inch hitch receiver gives riders access to the Teryx's 1,300-pound towing capacity. Undoubtedly, the most universally appreciated feature of the new Teryx will be its 3-year limited warranty, the longest in the industry.

The 2014 Kawasaki Teryx is truly a hybrid among side-by-sides, offering performance and power for the trail, with storage, suspension, and specialty features for in the field or on the farm.

There are three versions of the 2014 Teryx and three different prices; base model for $12,999, the Camo for $14,299, and the LE for $14,999. The base model comes in a vibrant blue color, the Camo model in Realtree® APG™ HD® camouflage, and the LE in candy lime green with color-matched springs and A-arms.
