2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000 X mr – Let’s Get Dirty!

I am stoked about the new 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000 X mr! Finally, a side x side UTV machine built for the serious mudder! Can-Am excels at watching what ATV and UTV owners do to modify their machines and then Can-Am takes the most popular modifications and builds them into a stock, out-of-the box model. You'll find everything from a relocated engine air intake to snorkels, Gorilla Axel axles, Silverback tires and so much more. You'll be attempting the most ridiculous mud holes and having a mud sloppin' good time before you've even taken a wrench to your machine. Oh yeah! Let's get dirty!

The X mr mud package was first introduced with the 2011 Outlander 800R ATV. With the rise in demand and popularity for the side x side industry, it was only a matter of time before Can-Am released a X mr package for their Maverick. The Can-Am Maverick 100 X mr comes with everything a die-hard muddy-trail rider or closed-course bog runner needs to get them directly from the showroom to mud pit in no time.

Improved Control

While the Can-Am Maverick 1000r made a decent industry-leading mudder, Can-Am learned a thing or two from that model and improved on it with something even better. One of the biggest benefits with the X mr model is the addition of the Intelligent Throttle Control (ITC) which helps to detect accidental jolts in the throttle control. As with previous models, most riders have experienced the unintentional throttle burst while driving and bouncing around on rough terrain. The new ITC minimizes this and works hand-in-hand with Can-Am's Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS™) to help keep you in control.

All DPS-equipped models come with the Visco-Lok QE calibration to give you an even quicker engagement of the front differential. The Visco-Lok QE progressively transfers power from a slipping front wheel to the gripping one automatically with no buttons to push or levers to pull. It's a pretty slick feature (ha! no pun intended) and necessary for any true mudding machine.

Smarter Air Intake

Can-Am added snorkels to the engine's intake, CVT intake and CVT exhaust. They're located at the dash and behind the seats. This out-of-the box features is a bit disappointing because although Can-Am claims that they are as "high as possible" there are still several aftermarket systems that extend well above Can-Am's stock height. It's possible that additional height would hinder performance in some way and I'd want to research that. But I think I would still want to upgrade those to an aftermarket system at some point.

The CVT system is calibrated for performance in wet terrain and conditions and features a 13-bolt sealing system on the mud-ready compartment cover. The cover is equipped with an easily accessible drain plug should you ever need to remove water from the CVT housing.

On-the-Go Adjustments

New with the X mr package is an industry-exclusive onboard air compressor system that adjusts the front and rear high-pressure gas FOX Air Assist HPG Piggyback shocks to six, rider-selectable preload levels allowing for on-the-go adjustments based on terrain or vehicle load. The Air Controlled Suspension (ACS) has a full 4" height adjustment range with a full-height ground clearance of about 15 ½ inches. Base ground clearance is 13 inches.

While the Can-Am Maverick 1000 X mr is the most expensive of the Maverick or Commander models with a base price of $21,499, it also comes loaded with all the most popular aftermarket modifications. Whether you do all of your own wrenching or pay someone else to do the modifications, it could still save you thousands if you add up the cost of modifying a base Maverick model. The Can-Am Maverick 1000 X mr really is a machine built for the die-hard, mud pit adventurer, equipped with everything you need to get dirty.
