Marty lead both races for a majority of the laps but after losing a cylinder and some power captured a second place spot on the podium for both rounds of racing. The 2012 season has started off great for #15 Marty Hart and his ReadyLift/GearUp2Go Team with 3 podiums and leading the pack with first place in the point standings thus far. In addition to Marty’s racing success this season, his son Kyle Hart took home a 2nd place win on Sunday as well in his ReadyLift/Duncan Racing Kart Modified. Do you think race skills run in this family, we sure do!

Congratulations to both Marty & Kyle Hart for their great finishes in rounds 3 & 4 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

The Hart Attack Is Back

The Hart Attack Is Back – Team ReadyLIFT® Racing’s Marty Hart Dominates Round 1 With A First Place Finish in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Season Opener

Off road racing veteran Marty Hart and Team ReadyLIFT® Racing rolled into Firebird International Raceway for the season debut of the 2012 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series with one thing in mind – to win! Only champions truly possess a winning attitude. Hart has been a champion in every type of off road racing he has competed in. Whether on three wheels or four, Hart is truly a champion and has the hardware to prove it! His most recent series championship win being in 2010 while piloting the ReadyLIFT-sponsored Pro Lite, his second championship in that highly competitive class.

After a season of getting used to the power and attitude of the formidable Unlimited Pro 2 race trucks in 2011, Hart was gritting his teeth to put the pieces together to make a serious run for another championship in 2012. The Team ReadyLIFT Off Road Suspension/ Maxxis Tire/ GearUp2Go.com team was created in just a few months time. This truly is a team of quality relationships built over time. Crew Chief Brad Vitter calls the shots on Marty’s mean Pro 2 machine with veteran off road wrench Curtis Finn bringing a ton of set up experience and long time racing friend Loren Duncan making the calls on the spotter box. Together with Marty’s masterful ability behind the wheel there is no question this will be the team to beat in 2012!

Under the blazing hot Arizona skies the stage was set to achieve the ultimate goal in the first race of the year. A fast qualifying effort put Marty on the outside of the second row to start. Right out of the gate Hart wheeled his #15 ReadyLIFT Off Road Suspension machine into what was to become a wild and exciting battle for the lead with Robby Woods. As the rest of the field were banging off one another in the rear view mirror, Hart wanted the lead and Woods wasn’t about to give it up. As the yellow flag was drawn to signal the half way point of the race and the mandatory pit stops, Hart made one last charge coming out of the final corner and blew past Woods to nab the lead at the line.

After the pit stops the field took to the track behind the ReadyLIFT-sponsored Toyota Tundra pace truck. Hart now out front followed by Woods, MacCachren, and Ampudia, each of which had shown to that point they had the muscle to make a run to take away the lead. With the drop of the green flag, a freshly watered track changed the game for many of the drivers with the exception of Hart whose Maxxis tires and perfect suspension set up allowed Marty to pick his lines with ease and pull away from the field. It was obvious that no one was going to catch Hart today. And no one did! Hart put on a clinic of how to race hard and calculate and how to win! The waving checkered flags in front of a sold out crowd was the canvas on which Marty Hart in his ReadyLIFT Off Road Suspension/ Maxxis Tire/ GearUp2Go.com Unlimited Pro 2 Ford earned a dominating win in the toughest class in the sport.

Marty Hart celebrating winning victory in round 1 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series – Firebird, AZ.

Still reeling from the awesome performance on Saturday, Hart qualified his steed on the second row yet again for round 2 on Sunday. Right out of the box it looked like this was easily going to be a repeat of Saturday’s race. Within a lap Marty took the lead and checked out! Hart was driving like a man tactically possessed on domination. At the mid race caution Hart had the field in his rear view mirror and was poised to sweep the weekend with authority. Two laps into the restart as Hart had made a big gap on the field, the rear sway bar broke which drastically took the handling out of the truck. This unfortunate mechanical problem took away Marty’s chance to double up on the weekend wins. But a digging effort to keep pace earned Hart a 5th place finish which translates to Hart retaining the overall points lead leaving Firebird.

Your new points leader Marty Hart wasn’t the only one in the family to have a great weekend. Son Kyle Hart piloting his #523 ReadyLIFT Off Road Suspension/ Duncan Racing/ Maxxis Tire Modified Kart put on a clinic that even the elder statesman of the sport were impressed by. Kyle battled with Mile Cheek from the get go with Kyle taking the lead and holding on until the final laps. Side by side racing door to door and throttles on the floor, Cheek squeaked by Kyle as the race wound to a close. While not the win the young Hart wanted, his 2nd place podium finish was well earned. We guarantee you that you will see Kyle on the podium throughout the season, just like his father!

Kyle Hart and the #523 ReadyLIFT® Off Road Suspension/Duncan Racing Modified Kart.

No one could have written a script with an epic outcome that would turn out like what our team experienced. There is no question Marty Hart is one of the best and fastest drivers in this sport. He has proven it by winning championships in every class he has driven. The buzz around the pits was that Hart and his ReadyLIFT Off Road Suspension/ Maxxis Tire/ GearUp2Go.com Pro 2 will be the team that everyone will have to beat this season.

PRESS RELEASE:

STARTING THE SEASON OFF ON TOP

The 2012 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Season officially kicked off this past weekend at the Firebird Raceway in Arizona with our good friend Marty Hart #15 in the GearUp2Go/Ready Lift Pro 2 truck taking the top spot on Saturday. Marty Hart took the lead just before the mandatory caution and ran away from the field to take his first win in the Pro 2 Class.

“It’s a good way to start the season – new team, new truck, new spotter, new crew chief… Every single thing about this team is brand new,” said Hart after the first round races to a reporter. “We kind of wanted to come in and see where we’re going to shake out, where we stand. Obviously we’re not the fastest, but we’re a contender, and that’s what you have to go into a new season, wanting to be top 3, maybe. That’s where we established ourselves and we were lucky enough to get a win.”

GearUp2Go is proud of Marty’s efforts and congratulates Marty and the entire ReadyLIFT®/GearUp2Go Team on the first of many wins this season! GearUp2Go has a longstanding relationship with the Hart family and is very excited to be sponsoring Marty as well as his talented son Kyle who will commands his matching ReadyLIFT®/GearUp2Go #523 Modified Kart. How My New Kolpin Winch Makes My Business Run Smoother!

Gear Up 2 Go has been a savior to me.  My industry is buying, improving, and selling farms so a ton of my time is spent on side by side atvs cruising the job site.  As you can guess, I get into some pretty sticky situations.  Going into atv dealerships trying to find the right accessories has become a nightmare.  Gear Up 2 Go has saved me a ton of time.  Recently I ordered the Kolpin 2500lb ATV/UTV Winch with the Steel Cable.  That thing is a beast and has got me out of some sticky situations. Getting stuck is a good way to ruin half a day.  Whether you are using for business like me where wasting a day can cost significant money and progress or you are using for pleasure when you may only be able to get out once or twice a month, there is nothing more frustrating than getting stuck…especially if you are by yourself without phone coverage.  This winch has literally saved me days of work.  It sits on the front of my John Deer Gator and hasn’t slowed it down a bit.

The strength behind this wench is amazing.  I have hooked it up to everything imaginable…fence posts, trees, other atvs, etc… and it has always pulled my Gator out with ease.  Even more impressive, this thing winds back it very well.  Previous winches that I have owned reel back in very sloppy, resulting in a tangled mess that  usually results in big knots.  So far, the Kolpin winch has remained very organized and neat looking.  I cant recommend this thing enough.  If you are a hunter or recreational rider that finds yourself in rough or sloppy terrain, grab this thing to assure you dont lose time stuck in the mud.

I have not had to return any products yet to Gear Up 2 Go because you guys are great at making sure the products that I order go with the specific atv that I own, but a few friends of mine have nothing but good things to say about your customer service and return policy.  Keep up the good work and thanks for making my life easier.

Snowmobile Trip to Land O’ Lake, WI

COUPLES SNOWMOBILE TRIP- FEB 2012
LAND O’ LAKE, WI

by Cortney Marquardt

The trip was planned months in advance of our hopeful outlook that we would have enough snow to ride this year. If you are a snowmobiler you know that this year has had its ups and downs but taking every chance you can get to get some riding in since we have very few months of this loved sport.

With our accommodations booked in advance having to cancel them a few days prior made it harder to find a spot with snow that having any hope of an available open room.  The internet is a great thing for snowmobilers and being able to plan ahead. You don’t just have to take a chance on if they have snow or if you are going to get stiffed once you get up there and not be able to ride. Web cams and trails reports are very helpful and make it easier to make those decisions.

With our decision made we headed north! Which every person that loves to snowmobile knows the meaning of heading “NORTH”. With a five hour trip ahead of us we get anxious and want to be there in the snap of a finger.

With three days of being able to ride some good and some bad trails you take what you can get. We finished out the couples trips with 350 miles. Not the worst but definitely could have been better. With us die hard riders we were just happy to be riding and not at work! J

Having a newer sled this year of a different brand than previous years and wanting to ride every chance you can get I was able to sport the clothing of the new brand with the help of Gear Up 2 Go. They were extremely helpful and have GREAT customer service which goes above and beyond what they are expected. I would recommend and always come back to purchase from their website.

Food Plot Planting with ATV’s and UTV’s- How to Plant a Food Plot!

Food Plot Planting with ATV’s and UTV’s- How to Plant a Food Plot!

By Michael Lutes of Team GearUp2go.com

At GearUp2go we are extremely excited about this upcoming 2012 Spring planting season.  There is not much that gets me more excited about the prospect of the winter snow melting than thinking about getting out and playing in the dirt.  The amazing creation around us is absolutely astounding and getting an opportunity to connect with nature and be a part of working the dirt and growing something that will feed and grow the wildlife for months to come is such a joyful experience to me.  Even more exciting to me is that fact that the hard work I put in this spring can potentially result in a Pope and Young record book buck the next fall!

Many of your reading this article are owners of smaller tracks of land and don’t have the luxury of having huge farm equipment available to you for planting your food plots, well, I am in the same boat with.  I do most of my planting at our family farm in South West Wisconsin (around the Platteville, WI area).  The farm consists of 80+/- Acres of varied to moderate farm land and timberland.  On this land we plant about ten 1-2 acre food plots that are mainly for the whitetail deer.

Like many of you, we use ATV’s and Side by Sides for food plot planting.  We have a 2005 Bombardier and a 2008 Kimco XUV 500.  These machines have provided me with years of food plot planting successes, not to mention a little good luck from Mother Nature.  We mainly use the Kolpin Dirtworks system for working the ground and planting.  I will go into the individual implements from the Dirtworks system that we use a little later on, but it is has certainly been a reliable system over the last 4 years, with no problems, except for not enough time to use them.

In this article I will give you step by step directions on how to plant a food plot in using the Kolpin Dirtworks System and how easy it is!

Step1 for ATV and UTV Food Plot Planting:

Use a pull behind ATV or UTV rough cut mower to prepare the area you want to use to plant your food plots.  Once you have rough cut the areas, you can go back and use a finish mower if you want the grass even shorter, this is an optional step that I often don’t do because of time restrictions.  There are many good manufactures of ATV and UTV mowers but I personally like the Kunz mowers the best, they have provided years of worry free cutting for me.

Step 2 for ATV and UTV Food plot Planting:

Use a quality ATV or UTV sprayer with boom extensions and apply Round-Up to all the areas that you have recently mowed and that you would like to plant your spring or fall food plots.  Round-Up is used to kill all the forage and roots of the grasses and weeds, this make the ground possible to work up and get pre-pare for planting.  This step is important for ensuring you create a nice seed bed for the foundation of the seed to grow and prosper.

Step 3 for ATV and UTV Food Plot Planting:

Attach your Kolpin 3-point hitch to your ATV or side by side, which includes an electric motor for moving your hitch up and down with a thumb control located on the handle bars of your ATV or dash of your side by side.  Once the Dirtworks 3 point hitch is attached apply the Kolpin 48” or 60” tool bar (I have the 48”) with the Kolpin Dirtworks disk.  For those of you that don’t know the disk is really the first implement used for breaking up the ground.  I like to make about 10 passes over the food plot area to make sure the ground is very nice and broke up.  I am probably take it the prep job a little to far, but I enjoy creating an awesome seed bed to ensure the hard work I have put in on my food plot is worth it, because I don’t have time to re-do this work.

Step 4 for ATV and UTV Food Plot Planting:

Attach your Kolpin heavy duty drag harrow to your ATV or UTV.  I like to make about 10 passes over the disced up ground to break up any larger pieces of dirt that the disc did not get.  Again, ensuring the seed makes a nice contact with the dirt and will grow well, and have the minimal amount of failure rate when the seed is sprouting.

Step 5 for ATV and UTV Food Plot Planting:

Plant your selected food plot seed.  In the next article I will go into all the different types of planters there are on the market and why each one is good for planting certain types of seeds.  For this article I will just say the easiest is the ATV or UTV drop seeder-spreader.  It can plant most types of food plot seeds or varieties and is the easiest to use.

Step 6 fo ATV and UTV Food Plot Planting:

I like to take a light weight Kolpin Drag Harrow (not the heavy duty one) and go back over the seed a time or two to ensure the seed has good contact with the soil.  This raises your sprouting success rate by as much as 25%.

Step 7 of ATV and UTV Food Plot Planting:

Make sure to clean off all your ATV and UTV equipment and make sure everything is in great working order.  Like I said, my Kolpin Dirtworks implements have lasted me a long time but part of that is due to the fact that I take great care of them and make sure they are clean, put away in a dry area that is out of the way, and lubricated properly every time I use them.  Like most quality farm implements and equipment, they will last as long as you take care of them.

Step 8 of ATV and UTV Food Plot Planting (my personal favorite step):

Sit back and enjoy a cold beer while taking pride in the wonderful food plot  you planted and imagine all the animals that will look at that food plot as a buffet and will appreciate it!  Not to mention dreaming of the huge Boone and Crocket buck that will be walking under your tree stand this fall!
